The Belleview Biltmore Golf Club

Print E-mail

The Belleview Biltmore Golf Club, Tampa Bay, FlSituated on a 22-acre bluff overlooking the crystal waters of Clearwater Bay, the Belleview Biltmore, built in 1897 by the railroad tycoon Henry Plant, sits in a private waterside enclave in the Belleair community of Clearwater, Florida. The Belleview Biltmore is a full-service resort that includes the Belleview Biltmore Golf Club – an 18-hole PGA Donald Ross designed course – the Belleview Biltmore Tennis Club, Belleview Biltmore Resort & Spa and the Belleview Biltmore Beach Club on Sand Key.

For more than a century, the Belleview Biltmore Resort has bestowed Southern hospitality and unparalleled elegance to an impressive guest list. British royalty, heads of state, movie stars and professional athletes have all heralded the resort’s distinctive charm. With a fascinating history laced with social prominence and a remarkable revitalization, the Belleview Biltmore Resort holds a rightful position on the National Register of Historic Places. Today, the Belleview Biltmore unites historic charm with contemporary amenities to bring guests an experience that is simply beyond compare.

Historical tours are held daily and are open to the public. The original hotel is one of the last of the great American Victorian “Grand Dame” hotels. For more information, visit www.belleviewbiltmore.com.

Belleview Biltmore Golf Club

Designed by world-famous golf course architect Donald Ross, the Belleview Biltmore Golf Club has been an American favorite since 1925. Extensively restored to a classic Ross design in 2002, the course has a reputation for its challenging design which harmonizes beautifully with the surrounding environment. Belleview Biltmore’s 18-hole championship 71-par course offers players of every skill level a challenging and memorable play.

Belleview Biltmore Golf Club, Clearwater, FL

Unusual for most Tampa Bay area courses, nature, not houses, dominates the field of play at the Biltmore. Crowned pedestal greens, a Ross trademark, invite run-up shots but tend to shed careless approaches, while well-placed fairway bunkers snare errant drives. The course looks fairly benign on the scorecard – 6,614 yards, par 71 – but four of the par fours exceed440 yards from the tips.

Large water oaks and pines narrow a few fairways, and water comes into play at seven holes. But the biggest deterrent to low scoring is the wind. In common with a links, much of the course is relatively flat and exposed to onshore Gulf breezes.

The Belleview Biltmore Golf Club is a semiprivate facility and welcomes daily fee play. The spacious Belleview Biltmore clubhouse, located just a mile south of the resort, emulates the same architectural flair as the resort, with green gabled roof and regal setting. The clubhouse offers complete locker room facilities, a fully stocked pro shop with the latest in apparel and equipment, and a relaxing Clubhouse Grill serving breakfast and lunch daily. Specializing in corporate outings and charity events, the Biltmore’s professional staff will make any function, large or small, a complete success.
